Summit Business Strategies is a marketing firm and concierge for financial services, partnering with and promoting best of breed financial, tax, and business solutions for small to medium sized businesses. The firm is led by Damian Dering, who has worked in the wealth management and financial services industry for more than 25 years, Alex Casanova, a marketing veteran of 20 plus years, who has led efforts at several billion dollar companies, and Chris Turkmany an expert in residential, commercial, and business lending solutions for over two decades.
Damian Dering has been in the wealth management and financial services industry for more than 25 years. Damian is well-versed in multiple financial strategies that can help people mitigate taxes and pass on tax-advantaged wealth. He learned long ago that protecting wealth from taxation can be one of the most important aspects to a holistic wealth plan. He often gets involved in estate planning in conjunction with a client’s estate attorney, and he brings estate attorneys to the table if clients need one. Grantor trusts, certain irrevocable trusts, life insurance trusts (ILITs), generation-skipping trusts, family limited partnerships and/or other advanced strategies or entities require great attention to detail as well as knowledge of IRS rules and tax laws, and they can be a critical part of protecting an estate. Damian holds multiple licenses and registrations, including Series 7 (General Securities Representative), Series 24 (General Securities Principal), Series 63 (Uniform Securities Agent State Law) and Series 66 (Uniform Combined State Law) securities registrations. He joined Concorde Investment Services as a registered adviser and broker in 2014. Damian earned his ChFC® (Chartered Financial Consultant®) industry designation from the American College of Financial Services and has been recognized as an “Outstanding Financial Professional” every year since 2016. Damian has been married to his lovely wife Elizabeth for more than 20 years and they have three children named Isabella, Maxwell and Sofia. In his spare time, Damian enjoys cooking, reading and continued personal growth. He does “old man” Pilates to stay in shape, and he plays golf, pickleball and cornhole. He also likes riding his electric bicycle around his hometown of El Segundo, California.
Alex Casanova brings a deep history and experience in marketing, advertising, and business development. In his 20+ year career, he has worked with and within multiple industries, having served in leadership positions at companies that were true pioneers in their respective spaces. Alex was an early employee and original revenue director At Zynga, the first social media gaming company, growing revenue from zero to nearly $1 million per day, while also leading the company’s media/growth acquisition efforts, as Zynga was the largest advertiser across all social media networks. Prior to Zynga, at LeadClick Media, an early giant in online advertising and lead generation, he developed new, key verticals, and launched one of the industry’s largest Advertising Affiliate Networks, key factors in First America’s acquisition of the company for $150 million. Alex is a passionate marketer, always seeking opportunities to develop and try new advertising strategies and techniques, as well as novel business ideas and models. Alex and his wife Kendra have been married for 9 years, and are raising their two children, Paige and Casey, in the San Francisco Bay Area. They enjoy bike rides, theme parks, road trips, cooking, and hosting family and neighborhood get togethers.
Chris Turkmany has been in the relationship-building business for over 30 years. He has worked in the non-profit space for over two decades and during the same time helped clients as a licensed mortgage broker. His focus has been on residential and commercial lending, but he has worked on many other types of programs including reverse mortgages, construction loans, and hard money/bridge loans. Chris is an LA native who loves working with people, especially in the areas of bigger picture financial strategies. He recently helped small businesses to get their Employee Retention Credit and is excited to be working alongside Damian and Alex as part of their captive insurance team. Chris and his wife Elizabeth live in Westchester and are the proud parents of Chance, a recent UDayton graduate and Kaelyn, a student at Loyola New Orleans. Chris is a passionate sports fan and stays close to athletics at his alma mater, Loyola Marymount, where he calls play-by-play for the LMU baseball team.
